Lets talk for a minute about bar stools. We know it sounds so functional , but wait til you see these amazing kitchens and how they have really turned it up a notch just by their choice of bar stool!
This kitchen has Jonathon Adler written all over it. Take out the green pattern and blue dishes and it is a crisp clean white space. These chairs give this space a little attitude and spunk. We are loving the petite shaped seat and back.
Next, this traditional kitchen is with out a bar as we call it, but doesn't this beautiful french table look great. Thinking about foregoing a traditional bar? This is a beautiful example of doing just that. The wood really warms it up and the chairs create a cozy place to dine. Kitchen by Suzanne Kasler.
Again we have a neutral palette for the kitchen. These Bertoia stools give a kick of geometry and texture to this oh-so-white space. They most certainly add interest to this simple kitchen. Kitchen by Kim Fiscus.
Susan Ferrier used these unique and playful stools perfectly, especially within the confines of the small space. They add a masculine touch without overwhelming the space. Their shape grounds the space while their color allows them not to steal the show.
If you are waiting for a traditional, yet casual look we found that too. These saddle seat stools sure warm up the space and have such a lovely shape. The choice of stool in this kitchen really could have made it feel more formal or casual. Great choice! Kitchen by Meg Braff.
And finally for those of you who would like to see something other than a white kitchen here we go! It seems the dramatic height of the cabinets has ordered these barstools to have a tall back on them. We think they work perfectly. Also, the subtle use of red on the seat which mimics the shade over the window makes a cohesive kitchen. Notice how the woods used in this kitchen aren't exactly the same, from the cabinets, floor and stools it all works really well without being the same color. Kitchen by Jay Jeffers.
A few observations: We noticed most of the kitchens that have windows make some kind of connection between the window treatment above the sink and color of the Barstool. Since kitchens don't generally allow too many soft furnishings, like pillows and sofas, it is a great place to bring in color and add a punch of personality. Barstools can be like jewelry of the kitchen, often times they are the only piece of furniture in a kitchen. Some food for thought: Shouldn't we select them just as thoughtfully as a sofa?
