Trends roll in and roll out year after year, but many trends evolve. We wanted to take a look at a few trends that we think are moving out in 2017, and discuss what we think will be taking their place.
Black and White is OUT >> Navy and White is IN
This season designers are turning away from the go-to matte black and crisp white color scheme that has dominated the last few years. Now they are turning toward another dark and moody hue, navy and deep blue tones. We will see it popping up in high gloss woodwork, plush velvet furnishings, and cabinetry.
Brass on Brass is OUT >> Mixing Metals is IN
Brass, especially un-lacquered brass, has been a popular metal for a few years, but we think it reached a level of overkill in 2016. Now it isn't to say we don't love brass, we just want to see it in moderation. Mixing metals is the new brass. This kitchen is the perfect example of combining metal finishes, the brass pulls, a chrome faucet, and copper lined pendants blend together seamlessly.
Fiddle Leaf Figs are OUT >> Climbing Plants are IN
They seemed to be in every corner of the home tours we featured in 2016, and Pantone's Color of the Year is Greenery- but we thing the fiddle leaf fig has lived its last year. Plus they are incredibly hard to keep alive if you don't have just the right environment. Taking their place are vines are appearing in the form of climbing plants, which are (conveniently) nearly impossible to kill, and look great in hanging planters. We will take them all!
