Brining color into your outdoor spaces may seem like a no brainer, just add flowers and some bright cushions, right? Here are some other tips to add color to your outdoor spaces without breaking the budget.

1. Add an outdoor rug to your deck or patio. Don’t overlook the opportunity to add interest at ground level by bringing in a rug with a pleasing design in shades that will enhance your outdoor dining or seating areas. Choose materials that are mold/mildew resistant and hose off easily, like polypropylene.

2. Select colorful outdoor furniture. Sitting areas and tables often serve as focal points in the landscape, which makes them great places to add color. A colorful grouping of adirondack chairs, or some tiles tables are a great way to add pieces to furniture groups you may already own. As a less expensive option, trade in tan and brown cushions for new ones in eye-catching colors or add pillows to your existing seat cushion.

3. Bring in colorful pots and flowers. One of the easiest ways to create a more colorful garden is to incorporate containers in shades of blue, magenta, orange, purple or even red. This is an opportunity to create a striking color variation. In shady areas where flowers have a hard time growing, a colorful pot filled with green shade plants is the perfect solution. On a deck or porch try some colorful hanging planters to bring the color up off the ground.

4. Use colorful outdoor decor. Garden art can handle the weather extremes of the outdoors while adding interest to the landscape. Items like bird baths, colorful steppingstones, mosaic art, metal sculpture, and the popular Talavera pottery, are great ways to add color and visual interest.
