Lately we’ve seen an influx in the “Tiny House” movement.  Simply put it is a social movement where people are downsizing the space that they live in. The typical American home is around 2600 square feet, while the typical small or tiny house is around 100-400 square feet.

Tiny Houses come in all shapes, sizes and forms but they focus on smaller spaces and simplified living. They are often built on the back of flatbed trailers, or are so small they look like garden sheds.  It is much more challenging to design a small space, every square inch counts and often has to be multifunctional. Every surface has to be seriously considered to create multi-functional spaces.

People are joining this movement for many reasons, the most popular being environmental concerns, financial concerns, and seeking a more simplistic life. While we don’t think tiny houses are for everyone, These kinds of spaces make a home so much more memorable and cozy. Besides who wants to clean a BIG house anyway?
