Christmas Traditions: The Pickle

Merry Christmas! In recent years I have done variations of red and gold Christmas Trees but this year I decided to brighten it up a little with a color scheme of blues, greens, silver and white. It looks nice in my front room, which happens to be painted a muted blue color.

Our new color scheme was also inspired by a new family tradition we are starting with our Christmas Tree this year; the ‘Pickle Ornament tradition.’ On Christmas Eve after the children are in bed, I will hide a green, pickle shaped ornament somewhere in the tree. On Christmas morning, the first child who finds the pickle ornament receives an extra present. I’m hoping the other various green ornaments on the tree will make it a little trickier for the kids to find the pickle. What do you think?

I painted the pickle at a local ceramics shop. It should be fun to find! I hope you all enjoy whatever holiday traditions, new or old, you have this year!

Happy Holidays!
